2012 Olympian and unbeaten professional boxer Cameron Hammond was all class as he went to work on the Mundine v Jackson card on Wednesday night at Brisbane Entertainment centre.
Ex world Champion and Main Event Commentator Barry Michael, described Hammond as “world class” as did veteran ring Announcer Rick Powell, who even made sure he got a photo with Hammond after the bout to add to his collection of stars in the photo album.
The fight was scheduled over 6 rounds but was unfortunately cut short after 4 rounds (unbeknown to Hammonds team). The opponent from Thailand was a solid puncher who could box but with the silky slick skills of Cameron Hammond, it was a long 4 rounds for the Brisbane based Thai boxer and veteran of over 250 Muay Thai fights.
“Hammer is doing everything right at the moment” said coach Gareth Williams, he is working really hard in the gym and he’s also a very intelligent kid who, loves to learn”.
Hammond stepped the pace up in the 3rd and 4th rounds with some punishing body attacks and the Thai was over the moon when the bout was cut short from 6 to 4 rounds.
Team Hammond wants to be as busy as possible in 2014 and if he keeps improving at this rate, then he really could be knocking on the door of the world best within 2 years.
