U8s Young Lions — ages 5–8

Our youngest members learn through fun, structured boxing activities. This group focuses on learning skills, following instructions and building confidence. Current membership options include one or two classes each week, on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.

Under 12s, ages 8–11

The Under 12s program develops boxing technique, discipline and regular training habits. Families can choose one, two or three sessions per week across Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Your coach can help you choose a group when your child is at the boundary between age ranges.

Little boxers. Big adventures.

Welcome to U8s Young Lions: a place to learn boxing skills, make friends and build confidence, one class at a time. Our lion characters, sticker booklet and collectable character cards give children something fun to talk about long after class finishes.

Meet your Young Lions

Bolt, Storm, Crusher, Dash, Shadow and Blaze bring the programme to life. Children can discover character cards with their own titles, catchphrases and playful boxing stats, including speed, footwork and punch power.

Two ways to celebrate progress

Attendance stickers: “I showed up!”
Your child receives one sticker for each class they attend. Six stickers on a booklet page earn a small prize. The named booklet stays at the gym, ready for their next session.

Character cards: “I earned this!”
Cards recognise boxing skills, effort, behaviour and personal qualities. A coach explains what your child did to earn their card. They are not automatic attendance rewards, and children can earn the six different cards in their current level in any order.

Children keep their character cards at home, while the gym records their progress. Completing all six cards in a level is celebrated with a certificate and the relevant level reward, before they move on to their next collection.

A journey from Red to Gold

  • Red: listening, effort, confidence and learning the basics.
  • Bronze: consistency, discipline and growing independence.
  • Silver: resilience, teamwork and helping others.
  • Gold: leadership, responsibility and being a positive role model.

For parents: purpose behind the fun

The characters are the fun part. The goal is to help your child practise listening, following instructions, moving with confidence and learning boxing skills in a structured group. Each child works through their own journey; recognition is based on the qualities they demonstrate, rather than a race against other children.

Our coaches explain awards in positive language that children can understand. You can ask the team about your child’s current level and next step. Any achievement photos are taken or shared only with parent permission.

Getting started

After the trial, new Young Lions members start at Red level. The programme’s starter pack includes an orange Young Lions T-shirt, a named sticker booklet, parent guide, boxing gloves and hand wraps. The team will explain the rewards and help you get ready for your child’s first regular class.

Standard cards and programme rewards are included in membership. If a card goes missing, speak with the team: their earned achievements are kept in the gym’s progress record.

No boxing experience is needed. Tell us your child’s age and anything that would help them settle in. We’ll help you choose the right group and explain the programme before you select a membership.

What parents can expect

These are coached boxing sessions with a focus on skills and fitness. The gym’s free-first-session offer gives your child a chance to try a class before you select a membership. Let the team know your child’s age, previous experience and any questions you have when booking.

A child can train to learn and enjoy boxing without choosing a competition pathway. If your child is interested in progressing further, speak with the coaches about the suitable next group rather than booking a squad session as a first class.

Looking for boxing for an older child?

Our teen boxing program covers ages 12–17. The competition pathway is a separate option for dedicated athletes, with the right training group discussed with a coach.

Before your first session

Wear comfortable training clothes and bring water and a towel. Bring your boxing gloves and hand wraps if you have them. If you need equipment, ask the team before your visit so you know what to bring.
